www.oneworldsee.org is a multimedia and multilingual portal for CSO and initiatives in SEE. It is available in 4 languages: Macedonian, Albanian, South Slavic languages group (Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian) and English. Our main topics are: human rights, gender, activism, free and open source / internet rights, culture, enviroment and responsible economy. Through our news editions, we strive to contribute to information and knowledge sharing across the region, boosting the processes that strengthen civil societies.

 

Mission 

Oneworld platform for southeast europe (owpsee) envisions an active and efficient online community in South East Europe, unified in efforts to impact faster democratic developments and positive social change within civil societies of the region, and cooperating through interactive platforms at local, national, regional and international levels.

  • Local content in local languages Promoting and facilitating the process of local content produced by civil society organizations (CSOs). Enable CSOs to make a strategic use of ICTs (information and communication technologies) so they can become information providers (in producing their own content and becoming reliable sources of information for the publics and the mainstream media).
  • Capacity building, knowledge sharing and transfer: Strengthening the abilities, role, and engagement of civil society organizations in ICT capacity building processes. Build localized ICT curricula by facilitating the involvement of civil society organizations in ICTs and all relevant areas of work, but also supporting advocacy, at both the national and regional levels.
  • Networking, regional cooperation models Focusing efforts of the Foundation on expanding and strengthening the network(s) of CSOs, and promoting and generating sustainable regional cooperation models. Foundation will be a platform for exchanging models of cooperation and networking providing both successfully implemented as well as new models of networking/regional cooperation that emerge from the needs of respective local communities.
  • Crosscutting themes: information communication policy owpsee believe that ICT can be the thread for promoting and ensure the openness (content, standard, etc.); building exchange and collaborative actions between relevant organizations, monitoring on ICTs policies in SEE region.
  • Gender sensitive approach: owpsee’s believe that a gender sensitive approach is essential to ICTs and the internet and furthermore it can effectively enhance gender equality and women’s.

 

Areas of intervention

  • Gender&ict is present as content production as well as capacity building and advocacy process and its aim is to enable organizations from the SEE region to learn how to strategically use ICT and other advocacy tools in their task of advocating for human rights, especially women human rights and gender equality. Activities include training on gender&ict; Digital story for Transformation, Gender Evaluation methodology (GEM).
  • Other relevant activities: ; www.travellingbalkans.net (multilingual platform on sustainable tourism and responsible economy), www.ora.ba; digital story for transformation, open space (training and network), e-inclusion, GEM adaptation, GISWatch national report.

 

Collaborations

Owpsee has a formal agreement that foreseen two different ways of associating:

  • partnership (content exchange, developing and/or participating in join initiative and projects)
  • membership (participation to decision making process of the foundation, developing and/or participating in join initiative and projects, promoting campaigns). Organization can become member after one year of continuative collaboration along the strategic lines of the organization.

Partners

Currently, the Members of the Foundation consist of seven organizations active for change in civil societies across the region. Members of the Foundation are on the Board of owpsee and as such have a decision making role in the organization.
