The non-profit making Trentino Voluntary Group Association has as institutional aim of co-operation activity for development, favouring the Third World populations. Moreover, it has the aim of social and cultural solidarity.

 

Mission

  • feasibility study for specific projects for economic, social and health projects in depressed areas of the developing countries, co-ordinating among themselves. Direct involvement of the local people called on from time to time and in varying percentages to take part in the initiatives personally, with the aim of rendering single projects autonomous in the shortest possible time and then optimising resources;
  • training, preparation and technical improvement so as to send Italian volunteers to the developing countries;
  • organisation of work training placements in Italy for personnel coming from places where the project is realised;
  • follow up the completion of single projects in the developing countries with their own volunteers and local people responsible according to the orders and priorities established by the assembly proposed in the directive;
  • sustain the activity of voluntary organisations for co-operation in development, in relation to the planning and completion of initiatives which may contribute to completing, developing and simply creating conditions for subsequent Association operations, assuming directed initiatives compatible with the Association aims at a national and international level;
  • organise public meetings to raise awareness of international issues of underdevelopment as well as initiatives regarding development education;
  • print a periodical for local and national distribution to publish and publicise projects adopted as well as results and intermediate phases of realisation of single initiatives.

 

Intervention Areas

  • at a human level: projects against the trafficking of women, for social re-integration and professional training, also through the setting up of economic micro activity;
  • health: addressed mainly to the area of the newly born, obstetrics and gynaecology, in partnership with Amici della Neonatologia Trentina (Friends of the Newly Born, Trentino);
  • water: (canalisation, small floods, water purification), looking to improve hygiene conditions of the population as well as agricultural production;
  • education: supply of school materials, restructuring of school buildings, training courses for teachers;
  • emergencies;
  • raising awareness in Trentino on the themes of underdevelopment and the multicultural world;
