The Campaign for CEDAW 30th anniversary As an active network for the promotion of gender equality and the protection of women’s rights in Italy and on an international level, our objective is:
- to inform and arouse awareness among the public regarding the existence, the topicality and the importance of CEDAW as a tool for bringing about progress in the condition of women in Italy and in the world;
- to contribute to the spread of a rights-based approach and of a stronger gender perspective, proposing a positive image, which is non-discriminatory and respectful of women and their proactive role in bringing about development on local, national and global levels;
- to spread initiatives and action associated with CEDAW, that have been undertaken by women in other countries throughout the world, on themes such as violence against women and women’s contribution to the economy, seeking to compare good practices originating from the South of the world;
- to strengthen the network of organisations and links between people who are active as regards gender-related themes, within a local and international perspective.
