A group of people who have learned about the Ecuadorian reality co-operating directly with Fundaciòn Chankuap’ who wish to continue working as volunteers sustaining the activities of the association in favour of the promotion of the Achuar Culture (indigenous community), as a response to the pressing issues and the necessity of the local populations. Fundacion Chankuap is an institution close to the people with the ability to stand alongside families as well as the communities in their struggle against poverty, isolation, monopoly of intermediaries and the limits of geographic distribution.

Mission

The association has as its main aim helping and supporting co-operation projects in developing countries as well as raising awareness in the Trentino community regarding issues relative to the north-south relationship in the world. The Association carries out its work by means of:

• active participation with missionary groups in the respective communities
• participation at times of detailed study and awareness raising in issues linked to the north- south relationship in the world;
• creation, planning and completion or support for co-operation projects with public and private bodies;
• permanent training for members through participation in courses, conferences and initiatives linked to the same association aims;
• promotion of activities in line with social consciousness and awareness about the phenomenon of economic and social poverty of populations in developing countries.

Operating areas

• Raising awareness regarding the Trentino community on the issues of developing countries. The main activity has been carried out in several schools in the Trento Province. This has been done by means of films, involving children with parents in the association’s activities (organising small markets, encouraging ties with children in the “MI CASA” project sponsored by the association and by PAT (Trento Province Authority). This has also been done through direct testimony both by volunteers who have been in Ecuador as well as the personnel of Fundaciòn Chankuap’ who come to Italy. One tries to get closer to the reality in Ecuador.
• favour exchanges among association members and Fundaciòn Chankuap’ (main project partner).
• collection of funds to sustain the projects. Organise or participate in small markets where products mainly coming from the Fundaciòn Chankuap’ are sold as well as offer informative material while raising awareness with regard to the situation in Ecuador.

Collaborations

The association is not really a network, but works directly and continuously with Fundacion Chankuap, with head office at Macas (Ecuador).
The association believes in the possibility of starting up development projects which are sustainable and for this reason counts on Ecuadorian partners, the first to know the most urgent needs and the ways to start up a project.
In the numerous projects supported by the Father Silvio Broseghini Association, the actors and protagonists are members of the communities for whom the benefits of the projects are destined.
